“I yearned to play with tribal drummers polyrhythms and to live in exotic parts of the world. How could I make that happen? How to live a life of adventure? I got the idea of “spinning the globe”. With my eyes closed, I would stick a pin in it and go to whatever country it stopped at!! First port of call was Bermuda. I then spent the next 30 years doing the same thing - letting fate choose my destiny for me as I spun the globe. I have been lucky enough to have entertained all over the world.”
Bringing people together like a kind of ministry at the piano. Signed as in-house writer for Warner Chappell, she set up a studio, made R & B tracks, wrote ballads, composed orchestrally, licensed music cues, original pieces placed in film and TV internationally. Released 2 albums and worked with Chaka Khan. Debuted her
one woman show in Los Angeles. She continues to record, teach, write and perform.
Exposed to a rich variety of music, brought up in England, and listening to American jazz on shortwave radio. Melissa hails from a long line of musicians, artists, reporters and writers..
The first female pianist for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in London. Explored rhythm, harmony experimented with percussion, voice and instrumentation drawing from sounds of nature and the masters. Studied analog then digital multi-track recording and producing, always returning to the grand piano as her first love. All styles from classical, jazz, original compositions, ragtime, blues, funk, boogie-woogie, pop, Broadway and The American Songbook
